This notebook was compiled by Carl Andreen, a son of Augustana College president Gustav Andreen.  Carl Andreen attended Augustana’s Academy (similar to high school) intermittently in the 1920’s.  His notebook depicts course work from an introductory botany course taught by instructor Karl Gottfrid Larson (KGL).  Elementary Botany, or Biology (4), was a 4 credit course with a lab component offered during the 1920-1921 academic year.  During this course, students were expected to read textbooks, learn general plant classification, know descriptive terminology, and be able to analyze various plant species.
